Electrical Panel Upgrade
Replacing old panels with modern and safe panels, installing circuit breakers and increasing current.
About the Service
The electrical panel is the heart of the home's electrical system. Old panels (ceramic/fuses) cannot handle modern loads and pose a real fire hazard. Ceramic fuses don't respond effectively to modern overloads, and are sometimes misused (bridging with wire or nails) leading to overheating. We perform replacements and upgrades to standards-compliant panels with automatic circuit breakers (MCBs) and residual current devices, including connection increases (single-phase to three-phase) and surge protection. All work is performed by a licensed electrician in strict compliance with Israeli electrical regulations.
What's Included?
- Replacing old panels with new ones
- Increasing connection to three-phase
- Safe wiring arrangement and organization
When Do You Need This Service?
- The panel is 15+ years old, or has old ceramic fuses
- Breakers trip frequently without clear reason
- Burning smell, unusual heat or soot marks near the panel
- Heavy appliances (AC, dryer, oven) cause overloads
- Insurance company requires panel compliance certificate
Our Work Process
- Inspection & mapping – A licensed electrician diagnoses the current panel condition, measures loads and checks all circuits. You receive an accurate quote at the end.
- Replacement & installation – Removing the old panel and installing a new standards-compliant panel, including MCBs, RCDs (Si/Type A) and a matched main breaker. Organized and documented wiring.
- Compliance testing – Grounding test, insulation test, and activation of all circuits. Issuing a compliance certificate as needed.
Pricing & What Affects It
A complete single-phase panel replacement (including MCBs and internal wiring) starts from ₪2,200. Three-phase panels start from ₪4,500. Final price depends on number of circuits, panel size and wiring complexity. Additional factors: RCD type (Si costs more but recommended), need for connection increase with IEC, and physical access to the panel. All prices exclude VAT.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to replace an electrical panel?
A complete single-phase panel replacement (including MCBs and internal wiring) starts from ₪2,200. Three-phase panels start from ₪4,500. The final price depends on number of circuits and panel size. In cases requiring rewiring of old infrastructure, the cost may increase. We recommend a diagnostic visit for an accurate quote. Prices exclude VAT.
Is it worth replacing an old electrical panel?
Absolutely yes. Old panels – especially those with ceramic fuses or without proper RCDs – pose a real fire risk and cannot handle modern appliance loads like air conditioners, dryers and ovens. An old panel without RCD protection can endanger lives in case of current leakage. A new panel provides full protection with MCBs and RCDs, prevents short circuits, and distributes loads correctly. Panels 15+ years old should be replaced even as preventive maintenance.
What is the difference between Type A and Si RCD?
An Si (Super Immunized) RCD is more resistant to small leakage currents from electronic devices like computers, chargers, and TV screens. The result: it trips less unnecessarily and is better suited for modern homes with many devices. Type A is the basic standard – it's more sensitive and may trip due to negligible leakage currents that pose no danger. The price difference between them is about ₪100-200, an investment that pays off over time. We recommend Si for every new installation.
